Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer the same day.

For schools

Can an individual student register directly?

Registration is through the school, because roll numbers, question papers and OMR sheets are dispatched to the school and the exam is invigilated there. If your school has not participated before, ask your coordinator or principal to contact us — we send a registration link the same day.

How much work is it for the coordinator?

One spreadsheet. The coordinator opens the registration link, fills in the school details and uploads the class list they already keep. Roll numbers are generated automatically. Errors and duplicate students are shown before anything is saved.

How is the fee collected?

The school collects from parents in whatever way it already does, and settles a single invoice with us. There is no per-student online payment for parents to complete. Part payments and bank transfers are both supported.

Is the exam online or on paper?

On paper with an OMR sheet, at your own school, on a date within the exam window. That means no dependency on the school's internet, no devices to arrange, and no risk of an exam collapsing because a server was busy at 10am.

For students and parents

What do the six ranks mean?

National, state, city, school, class and section. Each is shown out of the number of students who actually appeared at that level — so "3 of 1,204 in Lucknow" tells you something real, unlike a bare score out of 50.

Are absent students counted?

No. Ranks are computed only among students who sat the paper. An absentee is not given zero and does not push anyone else's rank up or down.

What happens if two students score the same?

The tie is broken in a published order: higher score first, then fewer wrong answers, then less time taken, then date of birth. The rule is fixed before the exam, not decided afterwards.

Why does my child have no city rank?

Because too few students took part in that city for the rank to mean anything. We would rather show nothing than print "City rank 1 of 2", which is not an achievement and would devalue every certificate we issue.

How does certificate verification work?

Every certificate carries an ID such as OLY-2026-00012345 and a QR code. Scanning it opens a page confirming the student's name, school, olympiad, score and rank. There is no login and nothing to install. A school admitting the student years later can check it in seconds.

Can a certificate be faked?

The QR carries a signed code alongside the certificate ID. Guessing a number will not produce a verified result, and a certificate withdrawn by us shows as revoked rather than simply disappearing.

Can we choose our own exam date?

Yes. Each olympiad has an exam window rather than a single fixed day. Your school picks a date inside it and tells us when returning the OMR sheets.

Is there a minimum number of students?

No minimum. Bear in mind that city and state ranks are only shown when enough students took part for them to mean something.
